When John Peggy started planning their 35th Wedding Anniversary party, they had no idea that Covid-19 would creep in and cancel so many social events and parties. Their plan for a big party with fancy clothes, a sit down dinner and a night of dancing had to be sidelined, but as it turned out, the love and happiness of the occasion still came through.
The state guidelines opened up just enough to allow a family party outside on the deck (with precautions in place, of course.) I was able to attend and shoot from a distance with my long range 200 mm lens, and I'm so glad!!
The day started with a surprise parade. Peggy and John were expecting me a little later in the day so they were extra surprised to see that I caught the whole scene from the street (due to a heads up from their daughter). Surprises are fun, right?
After the big surprise, their children and grandchildren brought in food and gifts. And BALLOONS!
The big party got cancelled but DJ Seth Andrews from PhamousDJ brought the big party feeling to the back yard by spinning tunes remotely. Family and friends tied in online as well.
After some dancing, of course it was time for portraits. How cute are these two, after thirty five years of marriage?
Taking precautions, but those eyes are still smiling.
This princess was fierce. i always love the tough ones.
Princess Paris was in full model mode.
Peggy and her mom, two lovely ladies.
Then it was time for dessert, including ice cream cake and strawberry treats from Kristin's Cupcakes. Yum. And presents!! Including an amazing frame with an original photo from John & Peggy's wedding.
So their day was not the way they planned but it was full of love, laughter, dancing and cake. Grandkids, the dog, homemade signs and delicious food. Not so bad in the end. I know the dog was glad it turned out this way.
Happy anniversary John & Peggy! I hope you get your big party soon. Thank you for having me there to photograph this amazing memory. You are too cute.
