Samantha & Eric's Rainy Day Elopement at Smithville Mansion

January 23, 2020  •  1 Comment

When Eric and Samantha contacted me about being their wedding photographer, they were in a bit of a time crunch.  You see, Eric had just proposed and they wanted to have a true elopement wedding - they were planning to get married in just a little over a week!  They knew that even though their wedding was not going to be a large event, photos were still an important part of the day.  I was beyond thrilled that I was available because they are just the sweetest couple in the world and their story was perfect.  And they pulled off a beautiful, romantic and emotional wedding that was lovely to behold.  Have I mentioned before that elopements are my favorite??

The wedding location was the Smithville Mansion at Historic Smithville Park, Mount Holly, New Jersey.  Their wedding date?  Friday the 13th!  Little known fact, but Smithville Park hosts weddings for FREE on certain days of the year and this was one of those dates.  We were dreaming of some lovely sunset photos before the wedding, but weather had other plans.  As the weather often does in December!  With a rainy forecast, we made sure to have pretty umbrellas and a good backup plan - and yet again, Eric and Samantha pulled off the impossible and got some gorgeous photos on the Smithville grounds before their ceremony.  The many porches, overhangs, and beautiful twinkling lights turned out to be a perfect backdrop, rain or no rain.  There was even room on the mansion porch for the whole family.  Even when the camera occasionally fogged up from the rain (yes, it sure did, lol) it only added to the vintage, retro feeling this wedding gave me.   Aren't they gorgeous?

After portraits it was time for the ceremony, which was short, sweet and amazing.  Smithville Mansion was decorated for the holidays so they chose a hallway full of trees and said their vows with just their immediate family there to witness the moment.  The night ended with hugs from their moms, fist bumps from dad, some candy canes and photos under the Chinese lanterns.  It was magical.

My name is Alena. I’m getting married to David on 6/25/21, and we are emailing regarding an elopement. We want 12 guests (including us) and we want to do the ceremony at beautiful park with photos followed by dinner at a restaurant, preferably one that would let us section off a little table for our cake. Please call me or David to discuss. We greatly appreciate your help and thank you in advance for being a part of our special day. :) 2013909207 or 2018740792 calling us is the best way to touch base!
